Caturday Pizza!

Tomorrow, Feb. 29th is Saturday. Also known as Caturday!

This week’s Caturday sketch is based on the latest edition to the Witchipoo household. As you might have read on a previous post, Squeaky Squeakums passed away. Squeaky was the basis of my self published comic, The Temptation of Squeaky, released Spring 2019.

At first I wasn’t ready for a new cat. Eventually a new friend, a local resident who specializes in rescuing cats had a suggestion. She introduced me to a all black cat male who followed her home during a cold, rainy night. This woman suspects (no proof) that this cat came from an Italian family owned fruit stand within the area. So during the Thanksgiving weekend this cat moved in. Everybody, meet Mr. Jet Alister.

Most cats crave meat and fish scraps. Not Jet. He loves bread, pizza crusts, and pasta. This boy likes his carbs. Last night as of this post, he was going after my late night garlic knots. (FYI – Garlic is not recommended for cats.) I used to talk to Squeaky in broken German phrases when she was alive. Yesterday Nettie recognized the German words. This time I ask Jet if he’s Italian. While him and Netzach Wondercat (aka Nettie) aren’t exactly buddies, he’s made himself quite at home. I tell him he’s “sexy” and a “weirdo.” I’m sure he’s thinking his human is the real weirdo.

So, in honor of Caturday, I present to you, Pizza Cat. The Caturday sketch of the week.

Caturday – Beat Poet Style

Caturday isn’t over yet. Here’s my weekly Caturday sketch featuring some key figures of the Beat Generation as cats. Hanging out in front of City Lights bookstore in San Francisco, California are William S. Burroughs, Neal Cassady, and Jack Kerouac. When I visited San Francisco in 2000, I had a drink in the bar that was right across the street from the famous bookstore. It was late night, and had just arrived in town. Didn’t get a chance to go inside the shop. Perhaps next time.

First Caturday Sketch of 2020

It’s been a while since I sketched my two characters, Squeaky Squeakums and Magnus Maximus. Squeaky was based on my real life cat, who passed away last year, June 2019. Spring of 2019, I released a comic titled ‘The Temptation of Squeaky.’ Which is basically about a housecat who befriends a demon in order to get more food. Which a cat would do, of course. The comic is still available. You can order issue one via PayPal (email: psychobunnycomix@aol.com) or Vemno (@Witchipoo), total $4.00 ($3.00 + $1.00 S&H)

Meanwhile, enjoy my first Caturday sketch of 2020. Where Squeaky pleads Magnus for a piece of his hot dog. Not even demons can enjoy a frank in peace.

Happy Caturday – Kiss The Cook

Happy Caturday everyone. Speaking of cats, this past Thursday was the birthday of one of my cats. She’s a half Persian, half Siamese cat who looks slightly from the Himalayan breed. When we got her, she was only three months old. Her name is Netzach Wondercat, but she answers simply to the name of Nettie.

The other cat, Squeaky Squeakums is the star of my upcoming comic. Nettie will also be a character in future issues. The debut issue should be finally either uploaded to a webcomic site, or be in print. Either way the mini comic should be finally released around Thanksgiving.

Speaking of cats and comics, here’s a Caturday sketch featuring Squeaky and her demon friend, both main characters in the upcoming comic. Of course, Squeaky must eat!

Inktober 2018 Sketch # 6 (Squeaky’s Torment)

Still trying to catch up on the Inktober 2018 sketches. Revisiting a subject I’ve drawn before – Squeaky Squeakums.

Squeaky is a female tuxedo cat I adopted in 2009. She came from a household that basically had too many cats. The other cats would gang up on her. Poor Squeaky had to hide. In the meantime the other cats would steal her food, prevent her from using the litterbox, etc. By the time she was rescued, Squeaky was skin and bones. Both her fur and eyes were dull. Such a sad cat. She didn’t even have a proper name. As it turned out, Squeaky also needed major cat dental surgery – which her previous humans failed to inform us about. That wasn’t cool. After her dental operation though, Squeaky was a brand new cat. Now she’s quite vocal, friendly, and extremely loyal. She’s intelligent as well. Despite being a pen thief.

One thing she never did get over though, was lack of food. Squeaky has something known as “food panic.” She’ll eye your dinner like prey as you vainly try to eat your meal in peace. Therefore Squeaky must eat!

As I’m doing these Inktober sketches, it was time for prompt number six; drooling. So here’s an updated version. Titled ‘Squeaky’s Torment.’ It’s tormenting especially for her. For the time being, we had to ban Squeaky from human food scraps, as they’re not good for her overall health.

Saint Gertrude of Nivelles

This past Saturday was March 17th. Otherwise known as St. Patrick’s Day. Just learned about another saint who shares the same day as St. Paddy. She’s Saint Gertrude of Nivelles. She’s the patron saint of cats, travelers and the mentally ill.

Now I’m not Catholic. I’m more informed about Pagan deities than Catholic Saints. However when it comes to spirituality, everything connects. In fact, saints are often used for decoys for various deities in other belief systems. That’s a whole other subject itself.

This saint is not to be confused with another saint of the same name, Saint Gertrude The Great, who was a German Benedictine, mystic, and theologian. This particular Saint Gertrude of Nivelles has a different story. Recently her name has been spread on the Internet as the saint of felines. So next you’re spending quality time with your kitty, give Saint Gertrude a little thanks.

Valentine # 4 – Valentine Cat

Wanted to do a different type of style, so here’s Valentine number four. Which of course, is two days late. So much for posting on Valentine’s Day itself.

My Grumpy Cat Illo On Another Website

Well okay. My last blog post was somewhat of a purge. If you managed to completely read through the entire rant, I applaud you. Seriously. Thank you.

For the record, I’m not really an angry person. On the plus side, now that’s been posted, time to move on. Well…I had already moved on, but I felt it needed to be addressed nonetheless. Since it was a new year, time to get rid of the garbage.

Anyway…some good news. The ‘Grumpy Cat’ portrait I did last month has now been posted to another website. You can check it out here:

Just scroll down and you’ll come across mine.

Until next time…
