Saint Cadoc

I will have one illustration published in another soon to released book, ‘The Age of Saints. An illustrated guide to the Saints of Wales’ written by Peter Anthony Freeman from Llanelli, Wales and published by A Raven Above Press.

The theme for this particular book is on Welsh saints. Each artist who participated was asked to pick a Welsh saint from a list. I chose to do Saint Cadoc.

This book debut at the Los Angeles St. David’s Day Festival-National Day of Wales event. It’ll take place March 1st, 2014, with a book release party the same day.

Here’s a clip of the illustration done of Saint Cadoc. Didn’t post the entire illo, cause after all, I want you to check out the book. Think of it as a sneek preview.

Rabbit Playing Bodhan Painting Oct. 2012

Completed this painting last night. Based on a tattoo I saw in a photograph:

Rabbit playing the bodhran drum. Painting by Michele Witchipoo Oct. 2012. Acrylic and glitter on canvas.

Did the background last month with acrylic and glitter. Didn’t know which direction to go until recently. It’s a pity the scan doesn’t show the true beauty of this piece.

From what I understand, this tattoo is based on an ancient English illustration going back 500 years. It’s a rabbit playing a Celtic instrument called the bodhran. Enjoy.

UPDATE: Just found out that the tattoo is actually a hare playing the tabor. Oops.

UPDATE 1/22/2013: This painting has now been sold.
