Locked Heart (Valentine’s Day Art)

In honor of Valentine’s Day, I created this in pencil:

Contrary to what this drawing suggests, I already had a good Valentine celebration. So regardless of whether you’re single or attached, Happy Valentine’s Day.

Of Roaches and Children Voices

Just a quick update here. At the moment I have an illustration posted on the Vice Magazine website. You can check out the article, written by John Reed here:

The Golden Age of The Cockroach

Also, I will have an illustration printed in the forthcoming book The Children’s Voice: A Definitive Collection of Welsh Nursery Rhymes to be published by A Raven Above Press. The book, featuring a variety of many talented artists, will be available come spring. It will be released in conjunction with the Los Angeles St. David’s Day Festival on March 3rd, 2013. Details about the book itself forthcoming.

Inkwell Awards

There’s nothing wrong with modern technology. Yet even conveniences at our fingertips, sometimes the old fashioned methods are the best. Take for example with music and art. Particularly with comic book inking.

Inking is one of the key elements that makes the artwork pop out. It helps establish atmosphere through lighting and textures. It’s also important to note that not all inking styles are the same. For example, difference in inking styles range between a very polished finish and a rough, gritty mood. Therefore it is important to recognize the vital role inkers have in crafting the final, finished look of a comic book story.
