Quick Break

Apologizing for being M.I.A…right before Thanksgiving life got a tad busy. Never got around to upload my new comic. With loads of artwork needed to be posted, I’ll get back on track soon.

Happy Caturday – Kiss The Cook

Happy Caturday everyone. Speaking of cats, this past Thursday was the birthday of one of my cats. She’s a half Persian, half Siamese cat who looks slightly from the Himalayan breed. When we got her, she was only three months old. Her name is Netzach Wondercat, but she answers simply to the name of Nettie.

The other cat, Squeaky Squeakums is the star of my upcoming comic. Nettie will also be a character in future issues. The debut issue should be finally either uploaded to a webcomic site, or be in print. Either way the mini comic should be finally released around Thanksgiving.

Speaking of cats and comics, here’s a Caturday sketch featuring Squeaky and her demon friend, both main characters in the upcoming comic. Of course, Squeaky must eat!

Psycho Bunny Meets Santa Again – The Psycho Bunny Sketch of The Week (11/15/2018)

Soon it will be that most ‘wonderful’ time of the year. Psycho Bunny thinks otherwise. He’s just barely recovered from Halloween. Where did all the time go? The year was passing him fast while he was getting his beer. Doesn’t even notice Krampus creeping up behind him.

Introducing the Psycho Bunny sketch of the week.

Stan Lee (1922 – 2018)

You probably heard the news. Yesterday Stanley Martin Lieber passed away at age 95. The world knows him better as Stan ‘The Man’ Lee.

While with Marvel comics, Stan Lee collaborated with various artists. Among some of those artists were Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko. During Lee’s tenure at Marvel he worked on numerous titles. You might’ve heard of a few: Spider-Man, The Hulk, The Fantastic Four, X-Men, Black Panther, Thor, Ironman, and countless others. These various titles became many of the staples within the Marvel legacy.

After Lee retired from Marvel, he continued to stay in the spotlight. During 2006 and 2007, he hosted a reality show on the Sci-Fi Channel, now known as Syfy. It was titled Who Wants To Be A Superhero. As someone who usually hates reality shows, I absolutely adored season one. Later I got to meet the winner Feedback and runner-up Fat Momma. The contestant I was personally rooting for was Major Victory. Hugging him was one of my highlights during NYCC 2007.

Go to any comicbook related news source, and you’re sure to hear more detailed accounts Stan Lee had on modern pop culture. I was lucky enough to catch a panel Lee was on, during NYCC 2016. Moderated by film director Kevin Smith, it was Stan Lee, Walter Simonson and Chris Claremont. In my files I have a crappy photograph of the panel. However, this YouTube video will suffice.

I’ve had enough of death lately (personal reasons). So with that I’ll leave you with my tribute to Stan Lee. My second tribute which included Spider-Man, when Steve Ditko passed away a few months prior. He’s with Spider-Man, superhero from Forest Hills, Queens. Queens being my hometown. Excelsior!

Another Caturday With Squeaky & Her Demon Buddy…

Saturdays is Caturday. All cat lovers rejoice! With that, here’s Squeaky spending her Caturday with her new demon buddy. Taking some time to reflect in the woods.

Eventually I will have to either have to print, or post the upcoming Squeaky comic to a website. Check back to hear the latest.

Pineapple Pizza

There’s a reason why I’m posting this sketch. Mind you, it’s not one of my best. Then again as of this posting, I’m sick at home with serious flu.

A few days, a local DJ from the Goth/Post Punk scene passed away. The news has come to a shock among many. He had been battling depression.

In various subculture scenes, those within the communities tend to eat their own. You have to swim against the sharks, the leeches, the bottom feeders. However, Alex Von Nihil was different. He was funny, kind, sincere, non pretentious sort of person. He was a resident DJ at the Pyramid Club during it’s No Return Post Punk Society parties. Alex was also an established DJ at many other parties. While I didn’t know him well, it was obvious that music was one of his true loves.

On Facebook Alex was the guy who always tried to make others laugh. In private who knows what he was feeling inside. During the holiday season last year in 2017, I dropped by the Pyramid after attending a company Christmas party. He came down from his DJ station, went straight up to me, and gave me the sweetest bear hug. It surprised me a tiny bit, but I knew that his hug came from the heart. Never forgot that.

The last time I saw him in person was at Brooklyn Bizarre for the Clan of Xymox concert. Which ironically I blogged about earlier this year.

Alex gave the impression that he loved to make others giggle. He wasn’t without friends. They had this inside joke: “that’s burnt.” Oh, and Alex was a fan of pineapple pizza. Which leads to the sketch. No matter how unappetizing the pizza looks, this sketch is for him. Besides. Pineapple on pizza really isn’t bad. So in an underground scene where you come across users, losers and creeps, Alex was genuine.

R.I.P. Alex. You will be missed.

I Wanna Be Elected – Psycho Bunny Sketch of The Week Nov. 5, 2018

The U.S. midterm elections are upon us. This has been the most closely watched midterms in years.

Of course, Psycho Bunny has one thing in mind. Priorities you know. Introducing the Psycho Bunny sketch of the week for Nov. 5th, 2018.

PsychoBunnyElectionDayNov2018WEB
Psycho Bunny encourages Americans to vote. For his party – the beer party. Based on the comic book written and drawn by Michele Witchipoo. On WitchesBrewPress. Nov. 2018.

Earlier tonight, before creating this blog post. Taking the subway back to Queens. Two people campaigning  for the NY governor candidate representing the Libertarian party get on the train. It was one male, one female. The female was holding a sign, yelling to vote Libertarian. The guy tried to hand me a flyer, but I refused. Instead, I just sighed in exasperation.

It’s reached that point where you can’t stand who is in the White House, but you’re also fed up with all political parties. There’s always the Rent Is Too Damn High Party.

Don’t worry, I’ll still be voting tomorrow. Just no more write-in votes for Mr. Bill. Promise. It reminds me of an old song by Alice Cooper.

After voting – check out my social media

NYCC 2018 Part I: Cosplay

As you geeks know, New York Comic Con happened last month. Let’s just call it NYCC for short. I attend every year, even if my own comic book tastes run more towards alternative than Marvel or DC. I’ll go to do the ‘networking’ thang, check out the current trends, but it’s also become a bit like a mini-vacation. NYCC also reminds me why I got interested in comics, sci-fi and other related genres in the first place.

The first five years of attending NYCC, I got caught up in all the buzz, the excitement, the cosplay, etc. Things shifted a few years ago. Like last year, a lot of time was spent attending panels.

This blog post will focus on NYCC 2018 cosplay. I was surprised on the type of cosplay seen this year. Despite Black Panther being huge at the box office, I didn’t see a lot of Wakanda. There’s this photo:

Was more surprised on witnessing more Harry Potter cosplay. Doctor Who cosplay went down. Bob’s Burger cosplay went up. Star Wars cosplay from any era will always be a staple of any comic book convention. That’s a given.

Another reminder about many years I’ve been attending NYCC. In 2008, I saw a man outside the Javits Center play the accordion while wearing a Boba Fett helmet. Exactly ten years later, he was back!

Deadpool cosplay was still going strong, but it was usually in some form of mash-up/crossplay.

Ending part one of NYCC 2018 is the inescapable photobomb. None other than good old Deadpool himself.

This report on NYCC 2018 will be continued on another blog post. Until then, enjoy some tasty grub from the Bob’s Burgers food trucks outside of Javits Center.

Happy Caturday – From Squeaky Squeakums Nov. 3rd, 2018

Thanks to the internet, cats have ruled the world wide web. Among extreme cat lovers, Saturdays have now become ‘Caturdays.’

Here’s my Caturday sketch, featuring none other than Squeaky Squeakums. She’s the star of my new upcoming mini-comic, which should be released soon. The idea for this character came from doing the Inktober 2018 challenge. Here she’s serving tea to a certain creature.

Inktober 2018 #31 – Slice

October and Inktober have come to an end. With that comes my last Inktober sketch for 2018. Introducing the 31st prompt, slice.

Inktober2018PromptWEB
Inktober 2018, prompt # 31 – Slice. Using one of my new characters from the forthcoming mini-comic available on WitchesBrewPress, by Michele Witchipoo. Oct. 2018.

As in pizza slice! Lately there’s a been a slight trend to blend satanic images with pizza. Why? Don’t ask. Regardless. This is one of my new characters from the forthcoming mini-comic. Isn’t he cute? I think he is. Him and the idea of putting Squeaky Squeakums came from the early 2018 Inktober sketches. So even if I didn’t get to complete the Inktober challenge, something good came forward.
