Over the weekend, a few events happened. One was The Misfits with the original line-up live at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

No, I didn’t have tickets. It’s okay. I met Jerry Only back in early 2001, when I was in Las Vegas for a week. Later years, got my Misfits collector doll signed over at Forbidden Planet in NYC. (Psycho Bunny was sold in Forbidden Planet back in 2004, in the self-published/indie section)

There was the L.I.C. Open Studios event which happened all weekend long, near where I grew up. Alas, didn’t make it to any of my friends’ exhibits in time.

The other event that happened, well you’re probably sick hearing about it. It was the British royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Normally I wouldn’t care about weddings. Certainly don’t give a toss about some Hollywood actress. However, the English side of me was just a tiny bit slightly curious. Not enough to get up 5am to watch the wedding live though. Just curious enough to attend a friend’s royal wedding party over at her fabulous salon, while sipping some pink blush champagne.

So if the worldwide coverage wasn’t enough to make you roll your eyes, there’s always the Psycho Bunny sketch of the week. Where Psycho Bunny uses any excuse to party.

Here’s the Psycho Bunny sketch of the week. Drawn while listening to the album Machine Gun Etiquette by the UK band The Damned. (Although The Damned did have a Goth period during their long career.)

The Psycho Bunny sketch of the week for Monday, April 15th, 2018. Based on the comic written and drawn by Michele Witchipoo on her own imprint, WitchesBrewPress.

Over the weekend, a few approached me inquiring if I was ever going to work on another Psycho Bunny comic. It even came up on Sunday while having dinner with a friend at my new favorite eatery, Onderdonk and Sons because they make killer burgers. The burgers come in both vegetarian and meat varieties, but getting back to Psycho Bunny. Will there be another issue? That’s a good question. Good news is yes, I do have a few stories in the works, so please be patient. In the meantime, I am available for commissions, so don’t be shy.

As some await for the next issue with baited breath (an exaggeration), there all these lovely social media account you can check out for the latest updates.

Until next time ladies and germs.

So Monday came around and I was stumped. Suppose I could do some kind of Easter sketch. After all, Easter just passed. Then again, Psycho Bunny is a rabbit. So doing some sort of Easter bunny parody would’ve been too easy. Perhaps I just wasn’t in the mood.

Hence, Roy Lichtenstein.

Some people believe Lichtenstein was a modern art master. Others believe he was a plagiarist. Whatever opinions you may hold regarding Lichtenstein, here’s the Psycho Bunny sketch of the week.

This past Saturday was March 17th. Otherwise known as St. Patrick’s Day. Just learned about another saint who shares the same day as St. Paddy. She’s Saint Gertrude of Nivelles. She’s the patron saint of cats, travelers and the mentally ill.

Now I’m not Catholic. I’m more informed about Pagan deities than Catholic Saints. However when it comes to spirituality, everything connects. In fact, saints are often used for decoys for various deities in other belief systems. That’s a whole other subject itself.

This saint is not to be confused with another saint of the same name, Saint Gertrude The Great, who was a German Benedictine, mystic, and theologian. This particular Saint Gertrude of Nivelles has a different story. Recently her name has been spread on the Internet as the saint of felines. So next you’re spending quality time with your kitty, give Saint Gertrude a little thanks.

The other day I was having a conversation with two other people about writer Anais Nin. Apparently she lived in Queens for a while. Then we briefly discussed her work, including her erotic short stories along with the Henry and June saga.

Afterwards by myself, I thought about Anais Nin, and then about relationships in general. There’s sex, and then there’s love. Every once in a while, the two mesh together. Love is a very tricky thing though. It comes in many forms.

There’s also something else. The heart is not a toy. Especially when it comes to women. If a woman loves you unconditionally, then consider that to be a gift. When a woman gives her heart, she is showing her vulnerability, her loyalty, her devotion . In cases like this, the cruelest thing to do is to break her heart. Many times heartbreak hurts more than actual physical pain.

“Love never dies a natural death. It dies because we don’t know how to replenish its source. It dies of blindness and errors and betrayals. It dies of illness and wounds; it dies of weariness, of witherings, of tarnishings.” – Anais Nin

Not all Anais Nin quotes are this melancholy. There’s some other quotes I favor over the one posted above, but this one rang true at the particular moment.

Anyway, here’s the sketch of week.

This was something originally started in late 2016. Halfway through, some events happened that I had to put this on hold. Then in very late 2017, discovered this sketch. Finally finished it in 2018. When Valentine’s Day rolled around this year, I misplaced the original piece. It was supposed to be hand colored with watercolor paint. Despite purchasing my first Wacom in late 2017, I went ahead and digitally colored in a way that a graphic designer professor would cringe.

Anatomical heart artwork has become a tiny bit popular over the past few years. Here’s my take on it. It’s intention was for a flyer advertising a local craft fair. The craft fair and the collective was never meant to be.

The background was influenced by vintage flower patterns.
