One Year Anniversary – Squeaky Squeakums

Happy Caturday! For cat aficionados, Saturdays are for cat lovers who have the weekends off, so they spend their Saturdays with their cats. For this week’s Caturday, here’s a tribute to my beloved tuxedo cat, Squeaky Squeakums.

Squeaky was one of the best cats I ever had.

Squeaky was the inspiration behind the comic I published last year, The Temptation of Squeaky. (You can buy your own copy from my rebooted Etsy store.)

It was around this time last year that Squeaky dropped her body. On the anniversary of her death, I did this watercolor sketch.

Squeaky Squeakums is survived by Netzach Wondercat, aka Nettie.

Although I’ve adopted another rescue cat since then, nobody can ever take the place of Squeaky Squeakums. Mr. Jet Alister, an all black male cat has some big paws to fill.

Rest in peace, Squeaky.

Caturday Beltane 2020

Even though most of the U.S. is in quarantine, we can still celebrate the arrival of Spring. In our own ways – or least try to. Yesterday was May Day, also known as Beltane.

Squeaky Squeakums and her demon buddy Magnus Maximus did a little Caturday dance around the maypole.

Caturday With Squeaky & Magnus Maximus 4/11/2020

Happy Caturday everyone. Here’s Squeaky Squeakums with her demon buddy Magnus Maximus together during the coronavirus lockdown. Squeaky got some extra cat treats during the quarantine.

Be safe.

First Caturday Sketch of 2020

It’s been a while since I sketched my two characters, Squeaky Squeakums and Magnus Maximus. Squeaky was based on my real life cat, who passed away last year, June 2019. Spring of 2019, I released a comic titled ‘The Temptation of Squeaky.’ Which is basically about a housecat who befriends a demon in order to get more food. Which a cat would do, of course. The comic is still available. You can order issue one via PayPal (email: psychobunnycomix@aol.com) or Vemno (@Witchipoo), total $4.00 ($3.00 + $1.00 S&H)

Meanwhile, enjoy my first Caturday sketch of 2020. Where Squeaky pleads Magnus for a piece of his hot dog. Not even demons can enjoy a frank in peace.

Post NYCC 2019 – Psycho Bunny Sketch of The Week.

This past weekend was New York Comic Con 2019. I’ve been attending each one since it’s inception back in Every year a certain type of magic sparks whenever NYCC happens. My only regret was I had to miss Ridgewood Open Studios, which opened on the same weekend. In which I had a painting on display at a group art show, over at Lorimoto Gallery.

To my surprise, there wasn’t as much Deadpool cosplay mashups as previous years. There was still a few.

Which leads to the return of the Psycho Bunny sketch of the week. Drawn by yours truly.

Photos From Scavengers @ BFP Creative, September 2019.

This exhibit recently ended, but here’s photos from last month’s exhibit at BFP Creative. This exhibit was also on display during Bushwick Open Studios 2019. (Also check out my recent post of BOS 2019.)

The idea behind Scavengers was to create art from recycled or found materials. It was to be curated by Jaynie Gillman Crimmins and Sharilyn Neidhardt, in a space generously donated by Thomas Burr Dodd and Brooklyn Fire Proof. Since I self-published many of my sequential work, this was perfect. Finally I could make something out of all those printing errors from the copy and printing shops.

Basically I took scraps, receipts, unusable ink nibs, and other discarded items, combining them together into a 3D paper collage. Along the way, I found cracked pieces of a mirror on a Bushwick sidewalk. That was thrown into the collages. The basis was from earlier this year, when quickly putting together my comic/zine ‘The Temptation of Squeaky.’ It had been a while since sending a comic to print. The ineptitude of some of the copy shop employees never ceased to amaze me. Definitely not in a good way. After pulling out of a copy place in Astoria, Queens which totally sucked, I finally found a decent one somewhere in Manhattan. Months later, I was doing an artist talk at Trans-cen-der. After that event, there was an opportunity to take part in the Scavengers show. I had saved most of my receipts from that horrendous print job in Astoria, Queens. My chagrin was exchanged from nuisance to creating a brand new installation. Not that I recommend this path to anybody. Nonetheless, it clicked. Things have a way of working out.

There were other amazing artists at the show. On the list were the following artists: Elena Soterakis, Jeannine Bardo, Walter Brown, Eliot Markell, Leah Harper, Aaron Schraeter, Meer Musa, Jamie Martinez, James Prez, Jeanne Tremel, Bonny Leibowitz, Niki Lederer, Chris Smith, Susan Sechler Luss, Nina Meledandri, Amy Bassin and, Sharilyn Neidhardt.

Squeaky Honors Black Cat Appreciation Day

Squeaky Squeakums, star of my latest comic is honoring Black Cat Appreciation Day. (August 18th) She got her demon buddy Magnus Maximus to round up a few of her black kitty sisters.

Black cats are awesome indeed. Despite their beauty, black and tuxedo cats have a hard time finding forever homes. ‘Tis a shame. I’ve personally found black and tuxedo cats to be quite smart. The real life Squeaky (who passed away a few months ago) was clever – especially when it came to food. So go down to your local shelter and adopt a black or tuxedo cat of your own today.

Squeaky was also the real life muse behind my latest comic. Available for order.

Squeaky Vs. Fireworks

Not everyone cares for fireworks. Family pets like cats, dogs and other animals get easily frightened by loud commotions. Squeaky Squeakums decided to do something about it. She enlisted the help of her demon buddy, Magnus Maximus to put a stop to those pesky fireworks during the Fourth of July.
